When you download the client, you should be given the option to open it immediately via your browser. Do so. You will see a popup window requesting you to move the file to the applications folder. Simply drag the icon from the folder where you downloaded it to the applications folder so that the app is installed. Now you can launch NordVPN direct from that folder.

The first time that you open the NordVPN client, you will be asked to enter your login details. At the bottom of the screen, you will see a message telling you to “Log in to access NordVPN service”. Just click on the hamburger icon to open the menu (This is located at the upper left of the screen), and watch as the menu slides out, then select the login options from there.
Once you are logged in, you need to set up the client so that you can connect to a VPN on the network. The settings screen will give you a number of useful options, including one to make a NordVPN connection via a map – which can be useful if you need to look as though you are from a specific country.
To connect to a server in a specific country, just click on that country on the map. The map screen is perhaps the easiest way to connect to a specific server. It can be useful if you want to hop between different countries to get the best possible performance while hiding your home connection or just enjoying the security of the VPN. The map screen will automatically connect you to the fastest server in that country.
If you don’t want to use the map, you can either search for a country by name or search for a purpose – such as ‘stream Hulu’ and then get a list of servers that will allow you to do that. Click on the connection switch next to the name of the server that you want to connect to, and the software will do the rest for you.search to complete the connection.
You can use the Explore button to get a list of VPN servers as well and pick a country to connect to the fastest server in that country.
If you want to connect to a specific server for some reason, then you can drill down through the list of servers by clicking on the eyeglass icon, and then pick out a server individually. This will be useful if you want a server that is close to you, one that has a lighter user load, or one that has a specific ping time. There are lots of options to search through the servers, and once you have found the one that you want to connect to, you can just click the connection switch. There is no need to worry about editing complex configuration files, or having to reset your internet connection between each VPN connection change.
